The journey of FREEMYNZ began when the two Reggae musicians, David “Catapila” Nevin and Dennis “Shango Trex” Llewellyn would eventually merge into a dynamic duo that would captivate music lovers worldwide.

Hailing from the vibrant island of Jamaica, Shango Trex, and Catapila had already etched their names onto the music scene. Soon, transforming their innate passion into professional careers as performers, leaving an indelible mark on the genre.

Fate brought Shango Trex and Catapila together in Tokyo, Japan when both were on tour. What started as a chance encounter blossomed into a profound friendship. Their paths intertwined as they frequently collaborated on each other’s projects. Notably, they teamed up for ventures like “Rise & Shine” and a cover of Billy Ocean’s “Caribbean Queen.”

The concept of forming a duo had been brewing within their conversations over time and was spurred on by their “Rise and Shine” collaboration. ” The moniker “FREEMYNZ” was born from their shared ability to articulate profound thoughts through their lyrics.  Their mission was encapsulated in their motto: “Free up your minds and live, so that your light can shine throughout the universe.” In essence, FREEMYNZ positioned itself as an outlier, unafraid to diverge from the conventional.

Their debut venture as FREEMYNZ materialized in the form of “That Rush” and “Time to Shine.”

As a united force, FREEMYNZ has emerged from the pandemic to relaunch the brand. Presently, FREEMYNZ is engrossed in crafting an EP, spearheaded by the lead single “Dangerous,” followed by the enthralling remix of the same, featuring Jamaican female artist  D’Angel aka “First Lady of Dancehall.” FREEMYNZ latest single “Disbelief” is scheduled for release on January 26th.

At the core of FREEMYNZ’s artistic essence lies an abundance of fun, uplifting, and inspirational vibrations, which will appeal to music lovers of all ages and nationalities globally. It embodies two exceptionally gifted musicians committed to nurturing the minds and ideas of others, thereby ushering in a sense of liberation and creativity… a true livity.
