Cookie The Herbalist is to be counted as one of Switzerland’s most prolific, successful and relevant reggae and dancehall artistes. Thanks to his powerful and energetic performances and his characteristic voice, his live shows are favorites in Europe and abroad.
Cookie, born Stefano Raschi, began his musical journey at a very young age singing in a church choir in Italy. His love of music, particularly reggae, increased when he discovered his parents vinyl records collection. After making his first real musical steps as a teenager, singing mainly reggae choruses for various Swiss rap crews and MC’ing for local sound systems, Cookie had the opportunity to be the support act on Jah Mason‘s Europe tour in 2007. As a result of this, he appeared at Rototom Sunsplash in Italy (Europe’s biggest reggae festival, now held in Spain), at the Rumble Reggae Festival in Germany and other big venues. In 2008 Cookie had his first big radio airplay with the song ‘Don’t You Tell Me‘ on Rootdown Records ‘I Love-Riddim‘. Also in 2008, the young artist released his first official EP ‘The Good Weed‘, containing riddims by European reggae giants like House Of Riddim and the Ganglords. ‘Cyaan Stop‘, a collaboration with Cali P made it into Red Bull and Salomon’s ‘Every Day Is A Saturday‘ freestyle ski movie and gained him large international attention. In 2009 Cookie was to be heard on riddims from different international producers such as Weedy G and African Beat to name a few. After countless shows and studio sessions, Cookie’s debut album ‘Like A Tree‘ was finally released in 2010. Its first single release ‘A Girl Like You‘ alongside the charming Jamaican singer Sophia Squire, dropped like a bomb and got large airplay on Switzerland’s biggest radio DRS3 (now SRF3) and other European radios, and after just a couple of days, it became ‘the summer hit’. ‘Like A Tree‘ was a success and kept Cookie touring all over Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, for more than two years, racking up more than 120 shows during this short time. In late 2012 his second album ‘Stand Tall‘ was released, once more highlighting the growth and improvement of the artist. The album offered collaborations with established stars such as Luciano, Sizzla Kalonji, Prezident Brown and U-Brown. After another successful tour and many more singles and video releases, Cookie visited Jamaica once more in early 2014 where, while spending some time at Inspired Production Studios in Kingston, some great new tunes were produced. One of these tunes was ‘I Wish‘, a very melodic song with an uplifting message and an inspiring video accompanying it. In 2016 Cookie released an album ‘COOKIEBOX’, a multifaceted compilation of the best songs he had recorded in the previous 2-3 years, as well as some never heard tunes. Once more he flew to Jamaica, his favorite place to be, where he continued working on new material including ‘Eaze’ featuring legend Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. This tune was included on the ‘Tropical House Cruises To Jamaica’ album which also featured big names like Ed Sheeran, Sean Paul, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, and others, and reached number 1 on the Billboard charts.
Presently Cookie is planning the production of his third album and looking for professional and motivated new business partners to support him on his musical path. This singjay can’t be stopped and is on his way to conquering the globe with his sound.
