StaShang

StaShang is a dynamic husband and wife Jamaican duo composed of Shango Trex and  StarFyah. Together, they create a seamless blend of passion, talent, and experience that resonates deeply with their audiences.

Shango Trex hails from Kingston, Jamaica, where music and entertainment were a constant presence in every corner of his community. Growing up surrounded by concerts, sound systems, and diverse genres, Shango was deeply influenced by the vibrant musical culture of his environment. Close friends, colleagues, and family played a significant role in nurturing his passion for music. From a young age, he immersed himself in studio sessions, observing, learning, and eventually creating. Performing at community events, youth clubs, and local concerts further honed his craft and solidified his love for music.

StarFyah was born in the UK but spent her formative years attending prep and primary school in Spanish Town, Jamaica, before continuing her education in the United States. Her upbringing was steeped in music, with family gatherings often centered around diverse musical genres. Whether performing or attending concerts and plays or just vibing at sound system sessions, music was always a central part of her life. With unwavering support from her family and friends, StarFyah cultivated her deep-rooted love for music, which continues to drive her creative spirit.

As both a couple and musical partners, Shango Trex and StarFyah have always been artistically active. Their journey began when they met while working on separate projects for the same record label in Japan. Soon after, they started recording together as StaShang, performing across Jamaica’s cabaret scene and later continuing their musical endeavors in the United States. Although they took a brief hiatus from their duet performances, StarFyah remained deeply involved in supporting Shango’s projects.

Now reunited as a musical force, StaShang is actively working on fresh material, with plans to release a series of singles in early 2025, leading up to an anticipated EP or album. Their first single in this new series, “Give My Heart,” was released in March 2025 and received enthusiastic support from fans and DJs alike. The follow-up single, “Where I Lay,” is set to drop on May 16th, continuing the duo’s tradition of authentic, love-centered storytelling.
